Software Development Engineer - Software Testing

4 Year Fixed Term Contract

As a Test Engineer, you plan, control, and execute testing activities for our medical software. Your focus is on manual UI, workflow, and system testing throughout the entire development lifecycle. In addition, you specifically test our algorithms in the field of geometric processing and verify the geometric properties and shapes of the software, as this is a core component of our applications. 

You develop test strategies at the module, subsystem, and system level, perform hands-on testing, and ensure that our software is intuitive, reliable, and clinically usable. 

Integration 

• You work operationally within development teams

• Technical support is provided by experienced test engineers 

 

Focus and Responsibilities 

• Primary focus: manual testing during sprints and in the V&V phase

• Contribution to test automation

• Verification and validation using CAD tools

• Development of test strategies across the entire software lifecycle, including early development phases and in close coordination with the team

• Planning, creation, and execution of test protocols

• Analysis and documentation of test results

• Management, generation, and validation of test data (including the use of CAD tools)

• Creation of clear and actionable defect reports

• Active participation in team routines and close collaboration with product owners

• Communication of test results, progress, and risks to stakeholders 

Technical Skills 

• Experience in audit-compliant test documentation and traceability; ideally with requirements/test management tools (e.g., Jama); currently structured documentation in Word/Excel

• Test automation tools such as Playwright – nice to have

• Ensuring traceability between requirements, test cases, and results

• Audit-compliant documentation

• Documentation of defects with clear, actionable reports

• No experience in hardware testing required 

Methodological Skills 

• ISTQB certification – desirable

• Experience with agile methods and continuous software delivery – desirable

• Experience in new product development, as well as verification & validation – desirable 

Soft Skills 

• German and English

• Ability to handle conflict and assertiveness 

Experience 

• Mid-level

• At least 2 years of professional experience

• ideally: experience in regulated environments

• IEC 62304 (medical device software) 

• ISO 14971 (risk management for medical devices) 

• FDA software validation 

Als TestingenieurIn planst, steuerst und führst du Testaktivitäten für unsere medizinische Software durch. Dein Schwerpunkt liegt auf manuellem UI-, Workflow- und Systemtesting über den gesamten Entwicklungszyklus hinweg. Zusätzlich testest du gezielt unsere Algorithmen im Bereich Geometrieverarbeitung und überprüfst die geometrischen Eigenschaften und Formen der Software, da dies ein zentraler Bestandteil unserer Anwendungen ist. 

Du entwickelst Teststrategien auf Modul-, Subsystem- und Systemebene, testest hands-on und stellst sicher, dass unsere Software intuitiv, zuverlässig und klinisch praxistauglich ist. 

Einbindung 

• Du arbeitest operativ in den Entwicklungsteams 

• Fachliche Unterstützung erfolgt durch erfahrene TestingenieurInnen 

Fokus und Aufgaben 

• Schwerpunkt: manuelles Testen in Sprints und in der V&V-Phase

• Prüfung und Validierung mit Hilfe von CAD Werkzeugen 

• Erarbeitung der Teststrategie über den gesamten Software-Lifecycle, einschließlich früher Entwicklungsphasen und in enger Abstimmung mit dem Team 

• Planung, Erstellung und Durchführung von Testprotokollen 

• Analyse und Dokumentation von Testergebnissen 

• Verwaltung, Generierung und Validierung von Testdaten (unter anderem mit CAD Werkzeugen) 

• Erstellung klarer und handlungsorientierter Fehlerberichte 

• Aktive Teilnahme an Teamroutinen und enge Zusammenarbeit mit Product Ownern 

• Kommunikation von Testergebnissen, Fortschritt und Risiken an die Stakeholder

Technische Skills 

• Erfahrung in auditfähiger Testdokumentation und Traceability; idealerweise mit Requirements-/Testmanagement-Tools (z. B. Jama), aktuell noch strukturierte Dokumentation in Word/Excel 

• Testautomatisierungstools wie Playwright - nice to have 

• Sicherstellen der Traceability zwischen Anforderungen, Testfällen und Ergebnissen 

• Auditfähige Dokumentation

Germany Pay Ranges:

• Berlin : €54.400 - €90.600 EUR Annual
