Our laboratory is currently looking to fill a full-time position for a

Data Engineer
Full-Time
Location: Berlin, hybrid work

As a team leader, you will be responsible for building the analytics team and business and product analytics vision. You are going to support our teams through collection, delivering and interpreting data. Overseeing business operations and product data collection. Providing actionable insights to our marketing and sales teams on the user acquisition frontend on how people use our products on the delivery front. Help us to stay up to date with industry trends through market research. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, and sales teams. You are a curious, technology-minded person with a passion for using data to inform decisions. You are driven by improvement and are aiming success thinking in a bigger picture for business. Your ability to take data and build an informed perspective is critical to success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities

Driving data warehouse architecture design, modeling and ETL development
Collecting and combining data from various sources (Engineering, Finance, Sales, Marketing and laboratory (LIMS)) and presenting them to be business relevant
Making the data available and visualizing insights for everyone in Tentamus and external partners
Providing technical mentorship to non-data-engineer colleagues to create their own reports
Building advanced analytical models (behavior segmentation, churn prediction, purchase propensity, recommendation engine, etc...) for engineering, finance, sales, marketing and lab teams

Skills Required

A Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science or related field
Professional experience working in a Data Engineering role (+3 years)
Deep technical understanding of data architectures and data warehousing principles
Previous experience in life sciences, food, health or pharma is a plus
Relational database knowledge and experience. BigQuery experience or experience with other kind of databases (Online, NoSQL) is a plus
Proficiency with Python and SQL
Experience with ETL / orchestration / data pipelining tools like Fivetran, dbt, Airflow etc
Understanding of modern BI tools and their integration with the data warehouse
Understanding of modern software development practices such as CI/CD, GIT, DevOps
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Fluent English speaker with a high level of written and spoken German – note that we require fluent German level (i.e. you have learned it to CEFR B1 level or similar)
